SOUTHINGTON, CT — Emergency crews rescued a lost hiker late Thursday night on the mountain behind Lake Compounce, according to the Southington Fire Department.
According to the Southington Fire Department, units were dispatched at 8:53 p.m. Thursday for a reported lost hiker off Panthorn Trail.
"A unified command post was established at the trailhead with the Southington Police Department, and the caller's location was pinpointed by Southington Central Dispatch," wrote SFD Capt. Daniel Comen to Patch on Friday morning.
He said fire department personnel entered the woods from both Panthorn Trail and Lake Compounce.
According to Comen, the hiker was located within 35 minutes at the ridgeline above Lake Compounce.
He said crews escorted the hiker back to their vehicle at 10:36 p.m., and no injuries were reported.
While the search was underway, additional Southington Fire Department units were responding to a separate highway crash, prompting the department to request mutual aid coverage from the Cheshire and Plainville fire departments.
