SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Southington Police Department is offering a limited-edition commemorative patch celebrating the nation's 250th anniversary, with proceeds supporting the Southington Police Benevolent Association.
The America 250 patch, which also commemorates the Fourth of July, is available for $10 at Southington Police Department headquarters, 69 Lazy Lane, while supplies last.
The department recognized students in Southington High School's Computer Animated Design classes for helping create this year's commemorative patch.
"A special thank you to the students in the Southington High School Computer Animated Design classes who assisted with the design of this year's commemorative patch," the department said. "Their creativity and effort helped bring this special 4th of July/America's 250th Anniversary patch to life."
According to the Southington Police Benevolent Association, proceeds from patch sales will support its mission of assisting officers and their families during difficult times.
"Your support helps the Southington PBA provide assistance to members and their families during times of need, including job-related illness, death, or hardship," the PBA said in an announcement. "Funds raised also help support the PBA's ongoing charitable contributions to groups and organizations throughout the Southington Community."
The commemorative patches are available for purchase during regular business hours at police headquarters until they sell out.
