Regional Foundation Awards $16,800 In Scholarships To Southington Pupils

Sixteen Southington pupils received $16,800 in scholarships through the Main Street Community Foundation to support their education.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Sixteen Southington students have been awarded a total of $16,800 in scholarships through the Main Street Community Foundation to help them pursue their educational and career goals.

The scholarships were presented through a variety of donor-established funds and recognized during the foundation's annual Scholarship Reception on June 24, 2025, at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Bristol.

During the event, the foundation announced it had awarded a total of $360,000 in scholarships this year.

In addition, two Southington students received scholarships through the Keating-Monaghan Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Lena M. & Peter L. Korotie Scholarship Fund.

Those scholarships provide financial assistance to students attending or planning to attend St. Joseph School and St. Paul Catholic High School, respectively.

The Southington recipients were among 194 students from across the foundation's service area who received scholarships in 2025.

Recipients ranged from elementary and secondary school students to graduating high school seniors, college students, adults returning to school, and individuals pursuing career training in fields including healthcare, criminal justice, engineering, journalism, education, the visual arts, and the skilled trades.

The Main Street Community Foundation administers more than 100 named scholarship funds established by local individuals, families, businesses, and organizations.

Scholarship recipients are selected through a competitive blind review process conducted by an all-volunteer committee appointed by the foundation's Board of Directors.

Founded in 1995, the Main Street Community Foundation serves Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, Southington, and Wolcott. Since its inception, the organization has awarded more than $31.4 million in grants and scholarships to support local communities.
