SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington firefighters quickly extinguished an overnight structure fire at a home on Highridge Road early Monday, marking the department's third significant fire response over the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
The Southington Fire Department said crews responded to 45 Highridge Road, where they found an exterior fire burning on the side of a residence.
Fire officials declared a working fire, prompting a mutual aid response. However, the assignment was scaled back after firefighters rapidly brought the blaze under control and confirmed the fire had not spread into the home.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The incident follows two other major fire responses for the department over the holiday weekend.
Late Friday night, July 3, firefighters responded to a tractor-trailer fire on Interstate 84 eastbound near Exit 28.
The truck's tractor was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived, and the fire spread to the trailer, which was carrying food products.
The driver escaped without injury, and mutual aid departments assisted in extinguishing the blaze.
On Saturday night, July 4, firefighters also responded to a house fire in Southington.
Monday's incident marked the department's third significant fire call in four days.
