SOUTHINGTON, CT — Residents will have additional time to explore Southington's early history as the Town Clerk's Office has extended its America 250 exhibit through Thursday, July 17.
The display is part of the community's celebration of the 250th anniversary of the United States and highlights Southington's own early history.
According to the Town Clerk's Office, Southington was incorporated in 1779, just three years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

The exhibit, originally scheduled for a shorter run, will now remain on display through July 17, giving residents and visitors more time to view the collection.
Town officials say the exhibit offers an opportunity to learn more about Southington's beginnings and its place in the nation's early history as communities across the country commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence.
