SOUTHINGTON, CT — Organizers of the Southington Apple Harvest Festival are seeking about 200 volunteers to help run this year's six-day event.
The festival, now in its 57th year, relies primarily on volunteers who contribute a few hours of their time during the event, according to organizers.
Volunteers will receive a commemorative T-shirt as a thank-you for participating.
This year's festival will be held over two weekends, Oct. 3-5 and Oct. 10-12.
The festival is scheduled to run from 5 to 9 p.m. on Fridays, Oct. 3 and Oct. 10; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturdays, Oct. 4 and Oct. 11; noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5; and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12.
Among the positions available are beverage sales volunteers, who sell bottled drinks to festival visitors, and beverage runners, who keep beverage booths stocked.
Beverage runners must be able to lift 25 pounds and perform repeated motions, including bending, organizers said.
The Apple Harvest Festival is encouraging residents who have attended the event in past years or who want to become involved in the community celebration to volunteer.
Applications are available through the festival's online volunteer application at this link.
