Residents will still have options for disposing of batteries for recycling.

The land trust is directing residents to the Southington Transfer Station, 617 Old Turnpike Road, Plantsville, or Staples, 672 Queen St., locations.

The organization thanked residents who participated in the program over the years, along with volunteers who helped operate it.

The Southington Land Trust also thanked the Southington Public Library for its support of the recycling effort.

The all-volunteer organization said the program was intended to benefit the local environment and encouraged residents to continue recycling their batteries after its collection program ends.

More information about the organization is available through the Southington Land Trust's website.
