Miffed Southington Officials Mull New Rules After Sports Teams Paint Town Property (patch.com) — Southington residents may soon see tighter oversight on any changes to town-owned parks and buildings after youth sports teams painted large logos without prior approval. Town Manager Alex Ricciardone and council leaders are weighing a formal process, and possibly an ordinance, to ensure all future alterations to municipal property receive appropriate review.
2. Southington Schools Awarded Large Grant For Special Education Programs (patch.com) — Southington families of students with disabilities could see expanded services after the school district secured nearly $300,000 from a new state special education grant program. The funding is meant to build local capacity so more Southington students can learn in their home community instead of costly out-of-district placements, though specific programs have not yet been detailed.
3. Southington Organization To Cancel Battery Recycling Program (patch.com) — Southington residents who've been dropping off used batteries at the Southington Land Trust or public library need to switch plans: the nonprofit is ending its collection program after Aug. 30.
