Officials recommend hiring professionals instead and stress calling 911 immediately at any sign of smoke or fire, noting one recent homeowner was very fortunate to avoid serious damage.
   

• Miffed Southington Officials Mull New Rules After Sports Teams Paint Town Property (patch.com) — Southington officials are weighing tighter rules after youth sports teams painted large logos on town-owned buildings without permission, forcing the town to order repainting in official colors. The town manager now plans to review minor changes administratively, while bigger alterations would go before the Parks and Recreation Board and Town Council, which may consider a formal oversight ordinance.
