The coffee operation opened a new cafe at Factory Square in Southington after closing its West Hartford location.

SOUTHINGTON/WEST HARTFORD, CT — A coffee business with roots in West Hartford has opened its new cafe in Southington, welcoming its first customers during a soft opening over the weekend.

New England Coffee Guy LLC held the soft opening of its new location at Factory Square, 168 Center St., on Sept. 12 and 13, offering a limited menu of $5 drinks, including espresso, hot and iced lattes, cappuccinos, and flat whites.

"Weekend 1 vibes were high," the business said following the opening. "Thank you so much for coming through. It was so great to see new faces, customers from WeHa and Cheshire, and Cart clients."

The company said it is still finalizing its Wi-Fi, installations, and menu and will be closed Monday through Thursday this week for now.

The cafe is scheduled to be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 19-20.

New England Coffee Guy is also looking for Connecticut artists whose work can be displayed on the walls of the new cafe on a rotating basis. Interested artists are being asked to contact the business directly.

The move to Southington follows the end of New England Coffee Guy's cafe operation in West Hartford.

In a message posted on the company's website, the owner thanked customers who supported the West Hartford cafe during its 18-month run.

"As I pour my final drink in West Hartford, I just want to say thank you to everyone who walked through our doors over the last 18 months," the message said.

The owner described serving the Elmwood area and surrounding communities as a privilege and said an extension of the West Hartford arrangement had been hoped for.

"I wish I could have extended our arrangement, because I genuinely believe we were in the middle of building something great," the message said. "The friendships, conversations, and support you've shown me are something I'll always be grateful for."

The message ended by directing customers toward the business's next chapter at Factory Square in Southington.

New England Coffee Guy had operated a permanent cafe inside WeHa Brewing & Roasting at 141 Shield St. in West Hartford.

The company has also operated a mobile coffee cart and catering business serving weddings, corporate events, private parties, and other gatherings.

The Southington cafe gives the company a new permanent location while maintaining the mobile coffee operation that helped establish the New England Coffee Guy brand.
