• Southington Man Who Sexually Assaulted Underage Girl He Met Online Sent To Prison: State (patch.com) — Southington residents are learning that a 28-year-old local man has been sentenced to prison and lengthy probation for sexually assaulting a minor he met on Snapchat. Prosecutors detailed how the victim immediately reported the 2020 assault, provided corroborating evidence, and bravely testified in court, with officials stressing that strong sentences help reinforce accountability and support other victims in coming forward.
• Age-restricted housing development proposed in Southington (hartfordbusiness.com) — Southington residents may soon see a new 10-unit, age-restricted housing development on Buckland Street in Plantsville, with duplexes, a new single-family home, and one affordable unit. Lovely Development is seeking special permit and site plan approval, and the Planning and Zoning Commission will hold a public hearing on Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the John Weichsel Municipal Room.
• Southington routs Windsor 35-6, moves to 3-0 (wfsb.com) — Southington football fans can celebrate a dominant 35-6 road win over Windsor, pushing the Blue Knights to a 3-0 start. Big plays from Ben Beaulieu, Nick Andrews, and quarterback Jacoby Roman powered the rout, and the team now turns its attention to a home game against Wilton next week.
