Southington Water Main Flushing Starts Monday; Streets Could See Discoloration

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington Water Works will begin its fall water main flushing program Monday evening, with dozens of streets and their connecting roads potentially affected during the first week.

The program is scheduled to begin the evening of Monday, Sept. 28, and will continue as temperatures allow, according to Southington Water Works.

For the week ending Oct. 3, water mains are scheduled to be cleaned on the following streets and their connecting roads:

• Academy Street; Ashwell Drive; Beecher Street; Berlin Avenue; Bristol Street; Brooks Street; Center Street; Chestnut Street; Columbus Avenue; Deer Run; Duck Pond Crossing; Farmstead Lane; Fleetwood Road; Frost Street; Gallant Drive; Germania Street; Great Pine Path; Greely Avenue; Green Valley Drive; Harvest Lane; Hightower Road; Highwood Avenue; Hilltop Road; Howard Avenue; Hubeny Drive; Jody Lane; Jubilee Drive; Kathryn Lane; Liberty Place; Liberty Street; Lucy Court; Main Street; Manor Road; Mathews Street; Mill Street; Morningside Lane; Mount Vernon Road; November Lane; October Lane; Prospect Street; Prosperity Court; Ridge Road; Rolling Hill Lane; Rourke Avenue; Sandra Lane; Saw Mill Lane; Skiview Drive; South Center Street; Speechley Avenue; Spring Glen Road; Summer Street; Susan Lane; Sylvia Court; Union Street; Vermont Avenue; Walkers Crossing; Water Street; West Center Street; West Ridge Road; West Street; Whispering Pines Drive; White Deer Crossing; and Woodruff Street.

Water officials said the mains will not necessarily be cleaned in the order listed. The schedule will depend on weather conditions and staff availability.

Residents in affected areas could experience temporary water discoloration during the flushing work.

Southington Water Works is advising customers to check their water before doing laundry.

The department said it will continue the fall flushing program for as long as temperatures permit.
