SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington officials are warning residents and businesses with delinquent tax or sewer accounts to resolve outstanding balances as the town prepares to send demand notices in November.
The Southington Revenue Office said certain overdue accounts could be turned over to a collection agency or become subject to a public tax sale if they remain unresolved.
For real estate accounts, outstanding balances from the 2023 Grand List and earlier will be subject to a public tax sale, according to the town.
The town said sewer bills that are seven to 10 years delinquent will also be subject to a public tax sale.
For motor vehicle accounts, unpaid balances from the 2023 Grand List and earlier could be turned over to the town's collection agency.
Personal property accounts from the 2025 Grand List and earlier could also be referred for collection.
The town said referral to the collection agency automatically adds a 15% collection fee to the outstanding balance.
Residents can check balances and make payments through the Southington Revenue Office's online payment portal.
Anyone who needs an immediate DMV clearance to register a vehicle must make the payment in person at Town Hall using cash or a money order, according to the town.
The revenue office also announced a new payment drop box at the Academy Street side entrance of Southington Town Hall, giving residents another option for dropping off payments.
