SOUTHINGTON, CT — A call reporting an unusual odor at a Summer Street home Monday afternoon led firefighters to discover a fire spreading inside the walls and into the attic of the three-story residence, according to the Southington Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to 224 Summer St. at 1:32 p.m. to investigate an odor, the department said.
When crews arrived, they found smoke in the basement and attic. The incident was then upgraded to a working structure fire, bringing additional resources to the scene.
Firefighters determined that flames had extended through walls on the second floor into the third floor and attic, according to the department.
Crews opened the affected areas, located the concealed fire and contained its spread.
No injuries were reported.
Fire departments from Meriden and Bristol provided mutual aid at the scene.
Plainville, Cheshire, and New Britain firefighters provided station coverage while Southington crews handled the fire.
The cause remained under investigation by the Southington Fire Marshal's Office, according to the department.
