SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Plantsville auction house is turning its October consignments into a fundraiser for breast cancer research.
Good Bottle Auctions announced its "Pink October" campaign, pledging to donate $1 to the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation for every bottle consigned with the company during October.
The donation will come at no additional cost to consignors, according to the company.
Good Bottle Auctions plans to announce its final fundraising total and make the donation by mid-November.
"We've gone pink for October because everyone has someone they love whose life has been touched by cancer: a mother, father, sister, brother, child or friend," Robin Sousa of Good Bottle Auctions said.
Sousa said the company selected the Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation because of its Connecticut roots and its focus on directing fundraising dollars toward research.
Good Bottle Auctions, established in 2024 and based in the Plantsville section of Southington, specializes in auctions of rare and collectible spirits and fine wines.
The Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in New London in 2006 in honor of Terri Brodeur, a young mother who died of breast cancer in 2005.
According to the foundation, it directs 100 percent of its gross fundraising dollars to research, with sponsors and volunteers covering administrative costs.
The organization has raised more than $7.2 million and awarded more than 70 research grants, according to the announcement.
