Plantsville Spirits Auction House Pledges Donations To Breast Cancer Research (patch.com) — Southington residents can support breast cancer research simply by consigning bottles through Plantsville-based Good Bottle Auctions during its Pink October campaign. For every bottle consigned this month, the company will donate $1 to the Connecticut-rooted Terri Brodeur Breast Cancer Foundation, which directs all fundraising dollars to research. The auction house plans to reveal the total raised and make its donation by mid-November.
2. Employee Crushed In Workplace Accident In Southington: FD (patch.com) — Emergency crews in Southington rushed to Chuck & Eddie's Used Auto Parts after an employee's legs were crushed by a salvage vehicle Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters, police and AMR treated the victim at the Old Turnpike Road business before transport to the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Authorities have not released additional details about the worker's condition or circumstances of the accident.
3. Hidden Blaze: Southington Firefighters Battle Fire In Home's Walls: SFD (patch.com) — Southington firefighters quickly contained a hidden wall and attic fire at a three-story Summer Street home Monday afternoon after a resident reported an unusual odor. Mutual aid from Meriden and Bristol assisted on scene, while nearby towns covered Southington stations. No injuries were reported, and the fire marshal is still investigating the cause.
4. Fuel Costs: The Cheapest, Most Expensive Places To Get Gas In Southington (patch.com) — Southington drivers can compare up-to-date gas prices across 20 local stations, with the town's average running just under the statewide figure. The list highlights which spots on Queen Street, West Street, and Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike are currently cheapest and which are priciest so you can plan your next fill-up.
5. Connecticut Ski Area Working On Chairlift Replacement Project (unofficialnetworks.com) — Mount Southington is investing in a multi-year rebuild of its aging Stardust chairlift, following recent replacements of the Avalanche and Northstar lifts. The upgrades, along with new all-weather snowmaking, aim to improve reliability, snow conditions, and the overall experience for Southington-area skiers and families who also enjoy the mountain's offseason camps and events.
