Applications open for free Certified Nursing Assistant program

SOUTHINGTON – For those seeking to begin a new career, Hartford HealthCare Senior Services is offering a free certified nursing assistant training program including tuition for classes, books, scrubs, testing and the Connecticut Certified Nurses Aide Exam. The 12-week daytime program will begin March 16. The deadline to apply is Jan. 15.

Applicants must have their high school diploma, be 18 or older and have their own transportation. Classroom education and labs are held in Southington and clinical training is held in Newington and Southington.

Acceptance into the program will be contingent upon a background check, fingerprinting, private interview, physical, reference check and the application.

This is the sixth session of CNA training that Hartford HealthCare Senior Services has offered. Many of the graduates are now working as CNAs in a variety of settings including home care, skilled nursing facilities and assisted living.
