Armed Burglary Suspect Subdued With Bean Bag Rifle In Southington

An armed burglary suspect was subdued with a bean bag gun on a road in Southington Wednesday, according to a police report.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A armed burglary suspect fleeing the scene of a theft along a road in Southington was subdued with a bean bag rifle Wednesday, police said.

Connor Trzcinski, 21, was charged with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny, the violation of a protective order, interfering with an officer, breach of peace, reckless endangerment, negligent use of a highway by a pedestrian and assault on a public safety officer.

At 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Southington police responded to the home of a relative of Trzcinski on Frost Street for a reported burglary.

Trzcinski was identified as a suspect and officers located him walking west on Frost Street, according to a report. Trzcinski refused to follow police commands to stop and began threatening officers with a knife, according to a report.

He continued walking on Mount Vernon Road, and police walked with him for a total of 1.2 miles while continually asking him to stop. Finally, in the area of 811 Mt Vernon Road, an officer deployed "a single bean bag shotgun round into Trzcinski's back," according to a report.

Trzcinski threw his knife away and allowed officers to take him into custody, according to a report. Trzcinski sustained a "minor abrasion and bruising" where he was hit by the bean bag, police said.

Trzcinski is accused of taking $1,300 in cash and other items from the home before
fleeing on foot, a report indicates.

His bond was set at $150,000, police said.
