Armed Robber Takes Cash, Smokes From Southington Store

An armed robber took cash and smokes from a Southington store, police said.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southingtion police are looking for a knife-weilding thief who held up a local store late Tuesday night.

The armed robbery was reported at 11:54 p.m. at the the Henny Penny gas station and convenience store, 273 Meriden Waterbury Turnpike.

Police were told that a white male who appeared to be in his 30s entered the the store, armed with a knife, and had the clerk open the register, according to a report. Police said the man then took about $150 in cash from the register.

The suspect also took several packs of cigarettes worth another $50, police said.

The suspect then fled the store on foot, according to a report.

Officers on Wednesday were working to obtain surveillance video of the incident.

The bandit is being described as having a husky build and stands 5-foot-10. He was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt with the hood up and a bandana over his face with khaki shorts, according toa report.
