Balance and flexibility play role in preventing falls

Feeling wobbly? Learn about balance and stability at a free program on Feb. 21 at Berlin Senior Center. Sponsored by Cedar Mountain Commons.

BERLIN - The fear of falling is a major health problem among seniors, and actually has a name: basophobia. As people age, it can become more difficult to maintain balance and falls can become more common. Quyntin Adams, exercise physiologist at Cedar Mountain Commons, will present a free program on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 1 p.m., at Berlin Senior Center, 33 Colonial Drive. He will focus on reducing environmental risks, improving physicality, boosting bone strength, and additional factors that can prevent falls. Cedar Mountain Commons is sponsoring.

Seating is limited. To register, call Berlin Senior Center, 860.828.7006.

Cedar Mountain Commons, a department of Hartford Hospital and member of Hartford HealthCare Senior Services, is a not for profit independent and assisted living community. To learn more, visit http://cedarmountaincommons.org.
