Bertucci's Closing in Southington

The Bertucci's restaurant in Southington was closed Monday.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The Bertucci’s restaurant at 20 Spring Street was closed Monday amid a company-wide bankruptcy shuffling.

A statement released by the Boston-based company indicated that 20 restaurants were closing and that the chain had filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection Monday.

It said Bertucci's has a buyer for its assets and liabilities, including 59 remaining restaurants.

The Boston-based restaurant chain is headquartered in Boston and was started in 1981.

“Today’s filing is expected to be seamless for Bertucci’s guests, trading partners and vendors, and result in minimal disruption to its operations, allowing us to strengthen the company’s financial structure and position it for significant future growth,” Bertucci’s CEO Brian Wright said in the statement.

Monday's move leaves Connecticut with a Bertucci's in Glastonbury, Newington, Avon, Shelton and Darien.
