Bids Go Out For Southington Library Project
Bids for the Southington Library project will be taken until next month.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Bid packages are being solicited for a firm to manage the Southington Library project.
The request for proposals were made available late last week.
A new Southington Public Library will be built on the site of the current Southington Public Library. It will measure approximately 29,900 square feet.

The existing building will remain operable until the new structure is ready for occupancy, but will be razed after the new library opens, officials said.
The project budget will be $16.9 million. The funding was approved by voters in November.

The construction manager will report to the the Southington Public Library Building Committee and other town officials. The selected firm may be engaged in an advisory role or an at-risk role under the contract, according t0 the bid package.
"It is the intent to select a firm based primarily on its experience and successfully completing multiple municipal construction projects, including libraries, in the State of Connecticut and their staff capability and experience on similar projects," according to the bid package.
This project is being paid for, in part, with state funds provided by the Connecticut State Library.
Bids are due by 10 a.m. on Feb. 15.
