Bristol Man Charged After Stabbing Outside Southington Bar: Police

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Bristol man was arrested and charged after a 41-year-old man suffered a severe laceration during a fight outside a Center Street bar early Saturday, according to Southington police.

Police responded to the Groggy Frogg, 129 Center St., at about 12:11 a.m. Aug. 8 after receiving a report of a fight in the parking lot in which a man had been stabbed.

Investigators determined that Jared Meadows, 24, of Bristol, was involved in an altercation with several other people in the parking lot, police said.

During the altercation, police allege Meadows assaulted the 41-year-old man, causing a severe laceration to his torso.

The injured man was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Police did not provide an update on his condition.

Officers found Meadows a short distance from the scene and took him into custody, police said. Investigators interviewed witnesses and collected evidence, including surveillance video from the area.

Meadows was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree breach of peace.

He was held on a $250,000 cash or surety bond and was scheduled to appear Monday, Aug. 10, in New Britain Superior Court.

The case remains under investigation by the Southington Police Department Detective Bureau.
