Bristol Man Sentenced To 10 Years In Prison For Sex Charges Involving Children

A Bristol man who pleaded guilty to sex charges involving children has been sentenced to a decade in prison.

Brian Desjardins, 37, of 57 Milton Road, was handed down the sentence last week in New Britain Superior Court.

During the proceeding, a judge sentenced him to 25 years in prison, suspended after service of 10 years, and 25 years of probation. The sentence structure exposes him to an additional 15 years behind bars if he were to violate his probation.

The sentence comes after Desjardins in July pleaded guilty to one count each of first-degree sexual assault and illegal sexual contact. The pleas were part of a deal negotiated by his attorney and either prosecutors or a judge.

Under the terms of the plea bargain, an additional count of illegal sexual contact and two counts of fourth-degree sexual assault were dropped.

According to police, Desjardins had inappropriate contact with two children. They were both known to him.

The charges police pursued indicate the victims were younger than 13 years old.

At the time of Desjardin’s arrest, police did not release further information, citing the sealing order that was placed on the arrest warrants by a judge.
