Bristol Resident To Receive 2018 BWF Scholarship October 30th
Brianna Root of Bristol is one of three Post University students who will receive a scholarship from the 2018 Business Women's Forum (BWF)

On October 30th, the 2018 Business Women’s Forum (BWF), will present three $2,000 scholarships to Ms. Brianna Root of Bristol, Connecticut, Ms. Ronnica Bartley of Manchester, Jamaica, and Ms. Tong Yu of Wuhan, Hubei, China, who are all students in the Malcolm Baldrige School of Business at Post University in Waterbury. The awards will be presented at the 36th BWF, Connecticut’s longest running leadership conference, on Tuesday, October 30th, 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville.
The BWF will also feature Bethenny Frankel, creator of Skinnygirl cocktails, TV talk show host and star, plus motivational speaker and actress Linda Larsen, BSW, MFA, CPAE, empowering workshops and a high energy cocktail reception. Erica Peryga, Dean of Students at Post University and a BWF Scholarship Committee Chairperson and Board Member, stated, “The Committee received impressive nominations for this year’s scholarships, so much so that we chose to acknowledge three outstanding members of the Post student body instead of one. I’m sure each will achieve great success in the future.”
Brianna Root is receiving her second scholarship from the BWF non-profit organization in 2018. Currently a senior at Post University, she also received a BWF scholarship in 2016. For the past four years, she has been studying for a dual degree in Sport Management and Communication and Media Studies while minoring in art. Ms. Root is a member of the University’s Sustainability Committee, works as a Resident Assistant, and serves as president of the Student Athletic Advisory Committee. She also competes on the University’s Division II Volleyball team. She commented, “I’m very excited and honored to win this prestigious award. In December I will be going to the Major League Winter Meetings to try and gain more knowledge of the sports business world. I love to learn and will continue to work hard and push myself to become the best I can in the business world representing women everywhere.”

The thriving BWF, a non-profit under the auspices of the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is led by female executives dedicated to the professional and personal growth of working women. BWF’s mission is to raise scholarship funds for female Post University students pursuing a degree in business, and over the past 35 years, in excess of $190,000 in scholarships has been granted.
This year’s highly-informative conference will include two keynote speakers, four professional development workshops, two speed networking workshops, day-long networking opportunities, breakfast, lunch and a high energy closing reception with hors d’oeuvres, beverages, raffle and door prizes.

The 2018 Business Women’s Forum (BWF) is being presented by the Greater Waterbury Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Onyx II Fine Jewelers and Wells Fargo.
Tickets are currently available at $195/person for the full-day conference which will include the keynote and motivational presentations, workshops, day-long networking, breakfast, lunch, and a closing reception.
