SOUTHINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- The women's track and field team at Eastern Connecticut State University recently concluded its 2018-19 indoor season. Among the student athletes was Raquel Romano of Southington, who majors in Mathematics and participated in sprinting events. While competing at the New England Division III Championships in Brunswick, ME, the women's track team broke multiple records in program history, surpassed their personal career records and also achieved LEC titles and placed as the top seed in multiple events.
- The men's track and field team at Eastern Connecticut State University's recently concluded its 2018-19 indoor season. Among the student athletes was John Meade of Southington, who majors in Biology and participated in sprinting events. While competing at the New England Division III Championships in Cambridge, MA, the team earned qualifications in long jump and triple jump, set personal career bests and outscored their own individual records. The outdoor season is set to begin on March 23 at Ursinus College.
- The men's lacrosse team at Eastern Connecticut State University recently began its spring season. The opening game resulted in a 10-7 non-conference win, the first for new head coach Marc Graham. Among the student athletes is Jacob Testa of Plantsville, who majors in Exploratory Prof. Studies and wears jersey number 7. He plays midfield.

- The Endicott softball team is gearing up for the start of the 2019 season, which starts on Sunday, March 17. The Gulls compiled an overall record of 30-6 and a 16-2 mark in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play during the 2018 season. Endicott advanced to the CCC Championship contest and was handed an 8-4 loss by Western New England. Hayley Arduini of Southington ranks ninth for career home runs with 12.
