Bard College at Simon's Rock, Great Barrington MA
- It's not every day that students start college early, but for this Plantsville student, that's exactly the case. Mabel McPhee earned a place in the fall 2019 entering class at Bard College at Simon's Rock. McPhee's academic and personal achievements stood out, securing Mabel a spot at Simon's Rock this fall. The campus in Great Barrington, Massachusetts is home to about 450 highly motivated students engaged in a rigorous college education. Early college students are on track to graduate from college one or two years ahead of their peers.
Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

- Eastern Connecticut State University Kinesiology and Physical Education (KPE) students won the Dee Perrelli College Bowl on Nov. 21. In its 10th year, the bowl is hosted by the Connecticut Association of Health Physical Education Recreation and Dance (CTAHPERD) at its yearly conference in Cromwell. This is the fourth year in a row Eastern students have won the competition. One of the students that participated in the win was Haley Kolesnik of Southington. Kolesnik majors in Physical Education. The Eastern students will now compete at the Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) Conference in Salt Lake City, UT, in April 2020. Students from Eastern's KPE program have also won the National College Bowl at the SHAPE Conference twice in previous years.
- John Meade of Southington is a member of the ECSU men's track and field team this season. The senior, a graduate of Southington High School, is majoring in Biology.
- Freshman Kailey Schmarr is a member of the ECSU women's track and field team. She is a graduate of Southington High School.
Nazareth College, Rochester NY
- Nazareth College is proud to announce that Blakely Vinal of Southington has been named to the dean's list for the fall 2019 semester. A student's grade point average must be at least 3.5 or above, and they must complete 12 credit hours of graded work that semester in order to be included on the dean's list at Nazareth.
