SOUTHINGTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven CT

• Zach Burleigh of Southington is a member of the men's indoor track and field roster this season at SCSU.

University of Connecticut, Storrs CT

• Sophomore guard Matt Garry of Southington is a member of the 2019-20 UConn men's basketball team. A walk-on out of St. Paul Catholic High School, the 6-foot-5 Garry has made three game appearances for the Huskies this season through Dec. 2.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

• Sean Garrison of Southington is a member of the Hawks' men's indoor track and field team this season. The senior is majoring in Marketing.

Western New England University, Springfield MA

• The Western New England University chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society welcomed 45 College of Business students at the annual induction ceremony, which took place on November 1 in Rivers Memorial Hall on the University campus. Founded in 1924, Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first year students that encourages and recognizes superior academic achievement. Alpha Lambda Delta seeks to promote intelligent living, a continued high standard of learning, and encourages students to recognize and develop meaningful goals for their roles in society. Members pledge to use their education to benefit the community, the college, the nation, and the world. Acceptance is based on attaining a minimum grade point average of 3.50 in their first semester of study or a 3.50 cumulative average at the end of the first year. Two College of Business students from Southington were inducted: Joseph Koczera, majoring in Accounting, and Vincent Viturale, majoring in Business.
• Daniel Topper from Southington was among 32 College of Engineering students welcomed into Western New England University's chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society on November 1 in Rivers Memorial Hall on the University campus. Topper is majoring in Mechanical Engineering.
