Coastal Carolina University, Conway SC

• Coastal Carolina University graduates are exactly what the world needs, according to commencement speaker and doctoral candidate Leigha Peterson. Peterson addressed the graduating class of 2019 - more than 1,200 students - during three separate commencement ceremonies at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center May 10-11. Among the graduates were Southington residents Mitchell Baker, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in hospitality, resort, and tourism management; Jared Gavronski, earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in management; and Alexander Gorr, earning a Bachelor of Arts in intelligence & national security studies.

Tunxis Community College, Farmington CT

• The Gamma Phi Chapter of Epsilon Pi Tau, the International Honor Society for Professions in
  Technology, in conjunction with the College of Technology and The Community Colleges of Connecticut, held its initiation on Friday, May 3. Among the 10 students from Tunxis Community College inducted was Brett Swanson of Southington.

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• Antoine Harris was one of six WPI student-athletes that earned NEWMAC Track & Field awards for the week ending April 21. The quartet of sophomore Matt Adiletta, junior Alex Rus, junior William Kopellas and Harris defeated Middlebury (42.42) in a head-to-head matchup with a 41.73. The time is ranked 18th on the NCAA Division III performance list and No. 1 on the NEWMAC performance list. It is the third time the Engineers have been recognized in the event this season, and the first for this particular configuration.
