Can/Bottle Drive To Aid Southington Police Cadets

The youth law enforcement organization will be at the Southington Police Department headquarters to collect redeemable containers.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Dumping your redeemable bottles and cans could go a long way toward helping a youth organization dedicated to the law enforcement field.

A can and bottle drive is being hosted on Sunday, June 2, by the Southington Police Cadets at the Southington Police Department, 69 Lazy Lane, Southington.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day, folks can drop of their bags/boxes of redeemable bottles and cans and the cadets will use the proceeds to fund various group activities.

The Southington Police Cadets are for local students aged 14-20 who have completed eighth-grade.

They meet regularly from September to June at the SPD and the cadets learn about the criminal justice field and train in law enforcement procedures.

It, and other, similar, programs in other towns, is seen as a precursor to a law enforcement career.
