Car Takes Out Pole in Southington on Tuesday

Police had to shut down a section of road as a result of the crash.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Southington police said they are investigating a early morning crash that left a utility pole snapped in two and a section of Flanders Road closed.

At 2:48 a.m. on Tuesday, Southington police received a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a utility pole in the area of 922 Flanders Road, according to a report.

Madison Wells, 19 of Southington was operating a 2013 Audi on Flanders Road when the vehicle so,mehow left the road and struck a utility pole, according toa repport.

As a result of the impact, the pole was snapped and the road was closed in the area.

The Southington Fire Department and AMR Ambulance responded to the scene, police said. Eversource Energy also responded to the scene to repair the utility pole, police said.

Wells was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, police said.

Late into the morning, traffic was being detoured around the area using Malcein Drive and Mine
Hollow Road.
