Car Takes Out Poles, Hydrant on Main Street in Southington
Extensive detours were set up Tuesday morning.

SOUTHIUNGTON, CT — Police are investigating a Tuesday morning single-car crash in the area of 466 Main St. in Southington that took out a fire hydrant and utility poles.
The crash involved just minor injuries, but because utility poles were involved, police said they were forced to close Main Street —state Route 10 — between Bristol Street and Chestnut Street.
The road will be closed for what police termed "an extended period of time" Tuesday morning and traffic will be detoured around the area, police said.

When she was in the area of 466 Main Street, the vehicle veered off the right side of the road and struck a utility pole.
The vehicle continued
"through the pole" and collided with a fire hydrant.
The impact caused two utility poles to fall and block Main Street, police said.
The girl was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. No charges had been immediately filed.
