Caregivers may benefit from The Changing Brain, a Caregiving Affair

Caregiving, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, Hartford HealthCare, Center for Healthy Aging, senior services

PLAINVILLE – Dementia specialists from Hartford HealthCare Center for Healthy Aging will present an in-depth three-session series, “The Changing Brain, a Caregiving Affair” focusing on caregivers of people who have dementia. This free program will be held Thursdays, May 24, 31 and June 7 at Plainville Library, 56 E. Main St. A complimentary light dinner will be held at 6 p.m. with the program set for 6:30 to 8 p.m. To best benefit, it is requested that individuals attend all three sessions.

Michelle Wyman, LSW, CDP, life enrichment coach, and Patty O’Brian, CDP, patient and family engagement coordinator, will speak about brain health and brain illness; offer information on professional intervention; suggest practical caregiving and self-care strategies and tips; and remove the mystery of the aging brain. The overview includes: Session 1 Let’s Talk About the Brain; Session 2 Something is Just Not Right: 1 + 1 Does Not = 2; and Session 3 The Healthy Caregiver.
