Champion Skier Lindsey Vonn to Appear At Southington High School

Vonn's appearance is part of a CIAC program for student-athletes and she will promote her new book.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Celebrated Alpine skier Lindsey Vonn is coming to Southington High School next month to promote her new book.

The program is being presented by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference for student-athletes.

Vonn is the 2010 Olympic downhill gold medalist, a four-time World Cup overall champ and multiple winner on the World Cup circuit.

Vonn is scheduled to appear at Southington High School on Monday, Oct. 3, in the school auditorium. Doors are scheduled to open at 6 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Vonn will take the stage at 7 p.m.

Vonn will be introducing her new book, “Strong Is The New Beautiful,” and will join CIAC Executive staff member, Dr. Robert Lehr for a conversation intended to empower girls and women to become stronger in all aspects of their lives.

Schools can apply for ticket through the CIAC, according to a notice on the althletic governing body's Web site.
