Charges Lowered On Man After Southington 'Man Lift' Incident
A resident of East Hampton was arrested after an incident with a "towable man lift," police said.

SOUTHINGTION, CT — A resident of East Hampton was arrested after an incident with a "towable man lift," police said.
On Monday at about 10:30 p.m., Jeffrey Grant, 33 of East Hampton, was arrested via a warrant. He was charged with fourth-degree larceny and second-degree criminal trover,police said. Grant posted a $2,500 bond and was released with an appearance date of Jan. 22 at Bristol Superior Court.
On Nov. 6, staffers at All State Utility, 214 Canal St., reported that a "towable man lift" was rented and had not been returned. The warrant alleges that, Oct. 23, Grant rented the man lift for one day, paid for it in advance with a credit card but kept possession of it for two weeks.

During the timeframe, Grant was allegedly in contact with the company claiming he wanted to continue use the machine and he would return to pay the accumulating charges, according to a warrant.
Payment was never received and, on Nov. 6, the lift was returned to the company, two weeks overdue and damaged, accordimg to a warrant. The two-week rental was valued at $1861 and the estimated damage was $1,476, police said.
