Catalyst members meet three times a year to enjoy a light meal and learn about a member-chosen issue facing their community.

Members then consider funding requests from charitable organizations addressing that issue and choose a grant recipient to receive up to $20,000.

In its 20 years of existence, Catalyst Fund members have awarded over $200,000 to a variety of programs meeting important needs and addressing difficult challenges in the community.

For 2024, Catalyst will focus on young adults aging out of systems and services which can be a
challenge for those in foster care, supported by the Department of Children and Families, or
attending programs to support a disability that only extends to age 21 or 22.

The first meeting of 2024 will take place on June 20 at the New Britain Youth Museum at Hungerford Park, 191 Farmington Ave. in Kensington (Berlin) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Anyone can participate in the first meeting to learn more about Catalyst.

The second meeting will take place Sept. 24 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain
Campus, 100 Grand St., New Britain.

The final meeting date is Nov. 13 at Shuttle Meadow Country Club on Kensington in Berlin where members will vote on the grant award and hear from last year’s grantee.

All meetings feature a light supper.

A social event will also take place on May 1 at Coles Road Brewing, 817 Farmington Ave. in Berlin from 5 to 7:30 p.m., where members will be able to socialize and where those interested in Catalyst can come to learn more about it.
