As the Colder Months Arise, These Five Tips Can Keep Seniors Safe

Safety suggestions for fall preparation.

As the dog days of summer come to a close, our thoughts may turn to fall favorites – apple picking, harvest fairs and festivals, maybe breaking out that warm sweater to go out for a walk. The change of seasons is also a great time to start preparing to stay safe and healthy during the colder months.

A few steps you can take this fall to start prepping for the winter include:

  • Get your flu shot.
  • Change batteries in smoke detectors.
  • Test out winter equipment such as generators or snow blowers to make sure it’s ready when needed.
  • Bring in outdoor furniture and check for drafts in your home.
  • Check the tires and fluid levels in your vehicle, so it’s in tip-top shape.

A little planning can keep you one step ahead as the colder months arrive.
