- Eastern Connecticut State University's Honors Program held its senior reception on May 18 in the Johnson Room of the J. Eugene Smith Library. The event celebrated the achievements of 25 graduating students enrolled in the university's highly selective Honors Programs. Jonathan Rappi of Southington, who majors in Biology, was congratulated for his outstanding academic achievements and his senior thesis titled " RNAi Screen for Transcriptional Regulators of Odd-Skipped Genes in C. Elegans." Francesco Ricigliano of Southington, who majors in Political Science, was congratulated for his outstanding academic achievements and his senior thesis titled "Encouraging Voter Turnout: The Differences Between Eligible and Registered Voters."

- Katherine Greer of Plantsville has been named to the Plymouth State University Dean's List for the spring 2019 semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must achieve a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.69 during the spring semester and must have attempted at least 12 credit hours during the semester. Greer is a Social Work major at Plymouth State.

- Tufts University recently announced the dean's list for the spring 2019 semester. Among the students earning dean's list honors were James Hoder of Plantsville and Kristen Mathew of Southington. Dean's list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater.

- On Saturday, May 11, on the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) campus quadrangle, 1,019 bachelor's degrees were awarded during the university's 151st commencement ceremony. Antoine Harris of Southington was awarded a bachelor of science degree in architectural engineering with distinction.
