Assumption College, Worcester MA

  • The Assumption College Office of Student Activities has announced that Stephanie Edick, of Southington, is currently serving as president of Assumption College Dance Team for the 2019-20 academic year. The nationally recognized Assumption College Dance Team is a group of highly motivated and dedicated students. The Dance Team supports the student body by performing at football and basketball games as well as other campus events including Midnight Madness, and regional and national competitions.
  • The Assumption College Honors Program inducted 68 new members, including Magalin Carroll of Southington, Class of 2023, on Sunday, November 10, before an audience of administrators, faculty, and families. The Honors Program, available to students of all majors and interests, provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education that prepares students for successful careers and meaningful lives. The Honors community is designed for those looking for a challenging and holistic educational experience, as well as those looking for social engagement with like-minded classmates. Honors students have exclusive access to the lounge in the new state-of-the-art Tsotsis Family Academic Center as well as opportunities for summer fellowships in which they collaborate with professors and travel scholarships for Assumption-sponsored experiences. Qualified high school seniors, students who have excelled in their first semester at Assumption, as well as transfer students are invited to apply for the Honors Program. Honors Program students must maintain a 3.25 grade point average (GPA) in Honors courses, and a 3.25 GPA across all courses.

  • Eastern Connecticut State University welcomed 1,200 new students to campus this fall 2019 semester. The new enrollees include first-time and transfer students who are enrolled in full-time and part-time undergraduate and graduate programs. Among the new students are: Kailey Richardson of Southington, a part-time graduate student who is majoring in Accounting; Noah Mihalko of Southington, a part-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Business Administration; Nathan Price of Southington, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Business Administration; Luca Veneziano of Plantsville, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Business Administration; Nicholas Steminsky of Southington, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Computer Science; Ashley Schiffer of Plantsville, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Criminology; Nicholas Perkins of Southington, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in English; Charles Napolitano of Southington, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Exploratory Arts & Humanities; Zachary Doty of Plantsville, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Exploratory Professional Studies; Natalie Pyle of Plantsville, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Pre-Elementary Education and English; Kailey Schmarr of Southington, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Pre-Elementary Education and Liberal Studies; Allison Stanton of Southington, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Pre-Social Work; Jennifer Duncan of Southington, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Psychology; and Ryan Henderson of Southington, a full-time undergraduate freshman who is majoring in Sport & Leisure Management.
