Community Rallying To Help Family Of Late Southington Firefighter
Community members have raised more that $30,000 to help the family of a Southington firefighter who died unexpectedly.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — Community members have raised more that $30,000 to help the family of a firefighter who died unexpectedly last week
Eric Rathbun died Aug. 12. In addition to being a firefighter, he was the father of four and a husband for 18 years.
He was a member of National Guard. He then continued his public service by joining the Southington Fire Department's Company 2 as a volunteer.

He was a sensei of Seirenkai Karate and Jujitsu and worked in cyber security management at Cigna.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for donations to the family. The account can be accessed here.
As of Monday afternoon a total of $36,473 had been raised to help the family. The initial goal was $10,000.
