The community is rallying to assist the family of the teen stabbed during an altercation last weekend.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The community is rallying to assist the family of the teen stabbed during an altercation last weekend at the Southington Apple Harvest Festival.
A GoFundMe account has ben set up to help the family with expenses related to the injury.
The GoFundMe organizer wrote, "What was supposed to be a fun time out turned into a nightmare for this family. Not only was a single mother who lives paycheck to paycheck already struggling, but is now out of work to care for her child..."

Per the fundraiser, the teen was readmitted to the hospital with a collapsed lung. Police have not identified the teen.

Police Monday said to expect a stronger security presence at the Southington Apple Harvest Festival after a stabbing incident over the weekend.
A 17-year-old has been charged with second-degree breach of peace in connection with what was described as a large gathering that turned violent. Police said the altercation took place at about 8:15 p.m. Saturday at the Apple Harvest Festival — in front of town hall. A 16-year-old wound up being stabbed in the melee, police said.
Since it took place near the festival's medical tent, the 16-year-old was cared for quickly, police said. The 16-year-old was stabbed in the lower right abdomen.
MOre charged could be filed in the morning investigation, authorities said.
