Connecticut Center for Healthy Aging presents dementia and caregiving series

FARMINGTON – Caring for someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is not an easy task. An upcoming series provides strategies and effective communication tips to better understand and relate to the individual. The Connecticut Center for Healthy Aging will sponsor a free five-week series, “Dementia and Caregiving: Focusing on the Person while Understanding the Disease Progression,” at Touchpoints at Farmington, 20 Scott Swamp Road. The sessions will be held Thursdays, April 14 to May 12, 6 to 7:30 pm. To best benefit, participants are asked to attend all sessions. Dementia and Alzheimer’s specialists Patty O’Brian, CDP, and Michelle Wyman, LSW, CDP, will lead the series.

April 21: Basics of Good Communications and Understanding Behaviors
April 28: Safety in the Environment and How to Structure a Day with Activities
May 5: Taking Care of the Caregiver and Care Options
May 11: Legal and Financial
