Connecticut Center for Healthy Aging presents dementia and caregiving series in Bloomfield

BLOOMFIELD – Caring for someone with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease is not an easy task. A free five-week series provides strategies and effective communication tips to better understand and relate to the individual with memory loss. The Connecticut Center for Healthy Aging will sponsor “Dementia and Caregiving: Focusing on the Person while Understanding the Disease Progression,” at Hartford HealthCare Senior Primary Care at Duncaster, 30 Loeffler Road.

The sessions will be held Thursdays, May 19 to June 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Connecticut Center for Healthy Aging dementia and Alzheimer’s specialists Patty O’Brian, CDP, and Michelle Wyman, LSW, CDP, will lead the series. To best benefit, participants are asked to attend all sessions.

Hartford Hospital Senior Primary Care at Duncaster provides primary and specialty care to patients age 55 and over. This practice, located on the Duncaster campus, is staffed by geriatricians and advanced practice registered nurses who specialize in geriatrics and offers primary care for seniors as well as geriatric evaluation and management services for preventive medical services and/or complex, chronic medical conditions unique to seniors. The practice is open to seniors living in the general area as well as to Duncaster residents. Hartford Hospital Senior Primary Care at Duncaster is part of Hartford HealthCare, Connecticut's most comprehensive healthcare network.
