Couple, Sledgehammer Tracked Down In Southington Burglary Chase
A Cheshire couple has been charged after a burglary-related chase in Southington.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Police tracked down not only a couple suspected of burglary last week, but a sledgehammer as well, a report indicates.
The report was released Wednesday.
According to a report, at 1:38 a.m. on May 18, a Southington Police officer, while on patrol conducting extra checks of businesses, observed a man and a woman in dark clothing on the east side of the Apple Valley Bowl, 1304 South Main St.

Upon seeing the officer, they both fled into a wooded area behind the bowling alley. Police formed a perimeter and were able to located the couple in the woods, according to a report. The man was identified as Adam Amato, 39, of Che and the woman was identified as Jennifer Amato, 35, of Cheshire.
Police also located crow bar and sledgehammer by the east doors of the bowling alley building where the Amatos fled from when police arrived, according to a report. Both Jennifer and Adam Amato were charged with criminal attempt to commit burglary in the first-degree, possession of burglary tools, and second-degree criminal mischief. They were each released on a $10,000 non-surety bond and are scheduled to appear in New Britain Superioud Court on June 22.
