'Cupcake Wars' Winning Chefs Open 2nd Connecticut Bakery

SOUTHINGTON, CT — Jeremy Braddock spent a good portion of Friday morning rushing product to the new Sweet Hardcore Bakery location in Southington because, after that he called an "overwhelming" opening day Thursday, he needed to maintain a feverish pace.

That's right, the bakery operated by the chef couple from TV's "Cupcake Wars" fame has opened a second brick-and-mortar location in Connecticut. The 168 Center Street Southington location officially joined the Watertown location at 76 Westbury Park Road Thursday. Jeremy and Nicole Braddock have cruised along in a food truck and the opened the Watertown location. While riding on the success of their 2013 Cupcake Wars win, the Braddocks saw the demand for another location in 2021.

"It was like a festival," Jeremy Braddock said of the opening day in Southington. "It's definitely a good location in the middle of the state with so many families in the area, but it was about double the amount of people we expected."

He said Friday morning was a scramble to get baked gods to all locations.

"This weekend will be a fun Halloween and top favorite kinda menu until we settle in, and — monthly — we will rotate the goods and add in specials weekly," he added.

Jeremy Braddock did say the Biscoff Brownies will be around.

Sweet Hardcore is also featured in the first Season 3 episode of the Nexflix "Sugar Rush" series.

"What we were able to accomplish on the shows had definitely helped," Jeremy Braddock said. "Thursday's opening in Southington was overwhelming, but also great."

The Braddocks passion shows in their motto.
