NEW BRITAIN - The New Britain Museum of American Art and Hartford HealthCare’s Jefferson House will present Simply Swing Music, a 10-piece orchestra that specializes in the music of the big band and swing dance eras. Specifically geared towards individuals with dementia and their caregivers, this progressive pilot program will provide a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere that encourages audience engagement and participation.
This free concert will be held Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2 to 3 p.m., at the New Britain Museum of American Art, 56 Lexington St.
This performance is part of an ongoing collaboration between the NBMAA and Jefferson House to provide innovative programs that support people with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. In 2016, Hartford HealthCare provided an extensive training session for over 30 NBMAA docents, which resulted in several successful Memory Loss art tours.
