DePaolo Middle School Ranked Top 50 in State: Report

The ranking comes from Niche.com, which ranked 19,710 middle schools nationwide.

There is seemingly a list for everything. We’ve seen rankings regarding the best high schools in the country and the state, and more recently the top elementary schools in Connecticut and the United States.

So it was only a matter of time before we’d see a ranking of the top middle schools in the state of Connecticut.

Joseph A. DePaolo Middle School was ranked 39th on the list.

And Niche.com recently did just that as it ranked the top middle schools in the county and the top 100 middle schools in Connecticut.

Niche says it ranked 19,710 middle schools nationwide based on key student statistics and 4.6 million opinions from 280,000 students and parents.

Fairfield County dominates the top 10, monopolizing the top 8 positions as Saxe Middle School in New Canaan was deemed to be No.1, followed by Bedford Middle School in Westport, and East Ridge Middle School in Ridgefield.

The first non-Fairfield county middle school to be ranked was the Henry James Memorial School in Simsbury, which ranked No. 9 overall.

For New Haven County, the top ranked middle schools both belonged to Amity Regional Middle School in Bethany at No. 11 and Amity Regional Middle School in Orange at No. 12.

Milford has three middle schools and Harborside Middle School landed at No. 80 in Connecticut, and received an overall A- score, and 96 percent of students are proficient in reading and math.

East Shore Middle School didn’t make the top 100 in Connecticut, but it was ranked 103rd overall and received solid grades. Overall the school received a B+ and 91 percent of students are proficient in reading and math.

West Shore Middle School didn’t make the top 100 in Connecticut, but it was ranked 106th overall and it earned a B+ overall grade, and 92 percent of students are proficient in reading and math.
