Despite Loss, Southington Still in Softball Top 5

After dropping a rare Sunday game, the Lady Knights won four times in five days to improve to 14-1.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — After a perfect first half of the regular season, the Southington High School softball team dropped its first outing last Sunday, but rebounded for four victories in five days to remain in the top five of the latest weekly poll of coaches and media members.

The Lady Knights (14-1) placed fourth in the most recent balloting, after having been in the No. 2 spot most of the season. This week, Southington takes on Conard, Fitch and Hall.

Masuk (18-0) collected 11 of 13 first-place votes to take over the top spot in the rankings. Seymour (16-1), which had been No. 1 all season, got the other two top votes to place second.
