Donate School Supplies In Southington, Watch A Backflip
Southington Community Services is hosting a school supply collection Aug. 12 at the town green, with someone there to do backflips.
SOUTHINGTON, CT — If you see somebody doing backflips on the Southington Town Green later this week, you're not seeing things.
Southington Community Services is hosting a special school supply collection event on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Southington Town Green in the center of town.
It will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a young gymnast doing a backflip for every donated backpack.

In addition to backpacks, though, Southington Community Services is looking for Post-it Notes, index cards, glue sticks, highlighters, markers, pens, pencils, notebooks, colored pencils, folder and, even, the infamous "Trapper Keepers."
Basically, the event seeks every type of school supplies as possible.

The goal is for as many schoolchildren in need as possible to have the necessary supplies when school starts locally Aug. 31.
