Driver Was Speeding Right Before Fatal Southington Pedestrian Incident: Report

The incident took place in August.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A Wallingford man had doubled up on the speed limit when his sport utility vehicle struck and killed a woman walking on Savage Street in August, according to a report.

The Record-Journal reported the story Thursday after obtaining the report.

According to police records, Amal Abouchacra, 50, of Southington, died on Aug. 15 after being hit by an SUV driven by Jarred Korab, 38, of Wallingford, according to police records.

Korab was charged Nov. 22 with traveling unreasonably fast and misconduct with a motor vehicle, according to police records. He is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Dec. 21.
